Time to answer the question mankind has been asking for centuries… What is the Internet?
The Internet is a group of popular 14-year-old girls at the lunch table. They’re impulsive, needy, love gossip and judge quickly. They want everything now, and it’s all about them. They trust you about as much as I trusted my teacher in middle school after he said, “Your shoes untied… Hahaha, just kidding! Can’t believe you fell for that again, Chelsea!”
If your online presence is good, you can sit at the popular table and hang out with the cool kids. If your online presence is bad, no one will talk to you.
This isn’t good or bad. The Internet just is. And it’s important to keep that in mind while creating online content.
This is quite possibly the best Internet metaphor I’ve ever heard. Credit goes to my first/current husband, who also created this motivational poster.
